late comers

We used to be punished when we enter in the class at the school, we learn from school that coming late is not a good thing, but as we grow we forget that lesson (including many) if you see around, my office starts at 9 am but at time no one is in office :) Why?
We dont care about time or is it something else?

It's in us as a nation. And software developers are lazy creatures around the world as well.

As much I have come to know of Swedes, they are very punctual. I had a meeting with a course instructor in the first term. I reached there about 2 or 3 minutes earlier and thought that I would wait outside for the other CR so that we go inside together. I waited for 5 minutes and when he didn't come, I went in. And he was already sitting with the instructor!

We had about 5 meeting in that term on different days. The other CR as well as the course instructor were ready/ available at the exact meeting time.

Apart from laziness, it is something else as well, it really is. It is the loss of interest & lack of accountability from the other side plus it's this "feeling", repeat "just a feeling", that the activity one's gonna do after reaching somewhere is not worthy enough to reach on time. e.g. if you have to catch a flight, you'll reach at max 30 minutes before it, simply because catching the flight is worthier than not-reaching-on-time.

And these priorities are specific to everyone.

I myself arrive late at office simply because for me adequate sleep is worthier than reaching office on time, of course if there's no dependency. But if a friend is waiting for me somewhere, I'll surely try to reach at least 5 minutes before. For some other person, this reach-before-5-minutes thing might not matter much.
